Apple delivers first-ever Rapid Security Response “cyberattack” patch – leaves some users confused

We’ve written extensively in the past on the ambiguity around Apple’s security update procedure. We’ve received email notifications and urgent updates alerting us to zero-day bugs that needed to be fixed right away because thieves were already aware of them, but we never received even a terse description of the kind of thieves or what they were up to, which would at least help to flesh out the story.

Since Apple wasn’t telling the whole story, our strategy has been to just assume the worst and deduce that it went something like this: Devices analysed in the wild found to have covert spyware placed by unknown threat actors.
