New York Times source code stolen using exposed GitHub token

nternal source code and data from The New York Times were leaked on the 4chan message board after being stolen from the company’s GitHub repositories in January 2024. The leak, discovered by VX-Underground, includes a 273GB archive of data, with a torrent posted by an anonymous user. The breach, caused by an exposed GitHub token, involved 5,000 repositories and 3.6 million files. The Times confirmed the breach but stated it did not impact internal systems or operations. This incident follows a similar leak of Disney’s Club Penguin internal documents on 4chan earlier in the week.
