Microsoft is changing how .NET installers and archives are distributed due to the shutdown of Edgio’s platform, which currently hosts some .NET binaries on domains ending in .azureedge[.]net. With Edgio services ending on January 15, 2025, Microsoft is migrating to Azure Front Door CDNs by January 7, 2025, unless users opt out by setting the DoNotForceMigrateEdgioCDNProfiles feature flag. Users must complete manual migrations by January 14, 2025, for *.vo.msecnd.net domains or choose another CDN. Configuration changes to Azure CDN by Edgio will freeze from January 3, 2025. Microsoft advises adopting custom domains to avoid availability risks and prevent security threats. Developers should update references from azureedge[.]net to builds.dotnet.microsoft.com to ensure continued service.
