Database belonging to Builder.ai found exposing 1.29TB and 3M+ records


Over 3 million records and 1.29 terabytes of data belonging to AI startup Builder.ai were exposed due to a misconfigured cloud storage system, putting client and internal operations at risk. The exposed database included sensitive client data, project details, financial records, and internal communications. Despite receiving multiple alerts starting October 28, Builder.ai failed to secure the database for nearly a month, citing complexities with dependent systems. The breach raises serious concerns about Builder.ai's security measures and compliance with privacy laws like the U.K. Data Protection Act and GDPR, given the company’s $450 million in venture funding.
