Google Chrome is testing a new AI-powered scam detection feature that analyzes web pages in real-time to identify potential scams by assessing the brand and intent of sites. Currently available in Chrome Canary, the feature uses a Large Language Model (LLM) to detect fraudulent tactics, such as fake urgency on phishing sites, and issue warnings. This enhancement builds on Chrome’s Enhanced Protection, which now leverages AI for improved security against malicious sites, downloads, and extensions. The rollout timeline for this feature remains unclear as testing continues.
