Apple to Pay Siri Users $20 Per Device in Settlement Over Accidental Siri Privacy Violations


Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a class action lawsuit accusing it of invading user privacy through its Siri voice assistant. The lawsuit stems from accidental Siri activations, where private conversations were recorded and possibly shared with third parties between 2014 and 2024. Affected individuals can submit claims for up to five Siri-enabled devices to receive $20 per device. This follows a 2019 report revealing that third-party contractors listened to private conversations to improve Siri. Apple has denied wrongdoing but apologized, introducing features for users to control their data. Google faces similar accusations related to its voice assistant.
