Arctic Wolf Networks Inc., a cybersecurity startup valued at $4.3 billion in 2021, announced plans to acquire BlackBerry Ltd.’s Cylance unit for $160 million in cash and 5.5 million Arctic Wolf shares. Cylance, acquired by BlackBerry in 2018, provides AI-powered endpoint protection and breach analysis tools known for lightweight agents that operate offline. Arctic Wolf, with over 5,200 customers, will integrate Cylance’s technology into its Aurora platform, which processes trillions of cybersecurity data points weekly to detect malicious activity. BlackBerry expects to close the sale by February’s end.
