Apple working on smart doorbell to rival Ring camera


Apple is planning to enter the smart home market with a Face ID-enabled doorbell system that would allow users to unlock doors using facial recognition, similar to how iPhones are unlocked. Expected to launch no earlier than 2025, the system would integrate with Apple’s AI-powered smart home hub and work with the HomeHit protocol to support third-party locks or potentially collaborate with a specific lock manufacturer. Additionally, Apple is developing an in-home security camera utilizing its new Proxima wireless chip, set to debut in 2024 with updates to devices like the HomePod mini and Apple TV. Apple aims to leverage its strong privacy reputation to compete with Google Nest and Amazon Ring, while also promoting its iCloud services.
