Industry groups urge quick adoption of EU cybersecurity label that favours Big Tech


Twenty-three industry groups across Europe have urged EU tech chief Henna Virkkunnen to swiftly adopt the updated European Cybersecurity Certification Scheme (EUCS) for cloud services. The certification aims to help governments and businesses choose secure cloud vendors. The latest draft, revised in March 2024, favors major U.S. tech firms like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft by removing requirements for joint ventures with EU-based companies. Industry groups argue this shift prioritizes technical criteria over political considerations. The European Commission has acknowledged receipt of the letter but has not yet responded.
