Trump administration launches new “self-deportation” app


The Trump administration has introduced a new app called CBP Home that allows immigrants in the U.S. illegally to voluntarily self-deport instead of risking arrest and detention. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized that this option may allow individuals to return legally in the future. The move aligns with Trump's goal to increase deportations. Additionally, a regulation set to take effect on April 11 will require undocumented individuals to register with the federal government or face penalties. The app replaces CBP One, a Biden-era app used to schedule legal border crossing appointments, which Trump shut down immediately after taking office.
