A new variant of the Vo1d malware botnet has infected 1,590,299 Android TV devices across 226 countries, with 800,000 active bots as of early 2025. The botnet, tracked by Xlab, uses advanced encryption and resilient infrastructure, turning compromised devices into proxy servers for illegal activities and ad fraud. The infection chain remains unknown, but users are advised to buy from reputable vendors, install updates, and avoid untrusted apps to mitigate risks.
